Double Lotus & Lily Bulb Soup, also known as Lotus Root and Lily Bulb Pork Soup, is a traditional Chinese soup made primarily with lotus root, lily bulb, and pork.
Lotus root is the edible rhizome of the lotus plant, known for its crisp texture and slightly sweet taste. Lily bulb, on the other hand, is the bulb of the lily flower and has a delicate floral flavor. These two ingredients are commonly used in Chinese cuisine for their nutritional value and unique flavors.
To make Double Lotus & Lily Bulb Soup, lotus root and lily bulb are usually sliced or cut into chunks and simmered with pork bones or pork ribs in a flavorful broth. Ginger, garlic, and various seasonings can also be added to enhance the taste. The soup is slow-cooked to allow the flavors to meld together and the ingredients to become tender.
This soup is not only delicious but also nutritious. Lotus root and lily bulb are both rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and iron. They are believed to have various health benefits, such as improving digestion, promoting healthy skin, and reducing inflammation.
